Welcome!

Dear friends, colleagues, location experts,

The ISOLDE XII had been postponed by the earthquake for one year. Now Japan is recovering from the catastrophic disaster. We are proud of holding the ISOLDE meeting after this tragedy. It is a coincidence that the first ISOLDE meeting outside Europe and North America will be held in Japan after the disaster. We are pleased to invite you to attend the ISOLDE XII conference to be held in Nagoya and Kyoto from July 19 through 24, 2012 to share our strong resolve to overcome the damage by the disaster.

The first three days of the meeting, we will meet in Nagoya, the central city of the Chubu region. Nagoya is located at the center of Honshu (the main island of Japan) and a base of important industries. The hosting institution is NANZAN University, which was founded by the Divine Word Missionaries and is one of the most prestigious universities in the Chubu region. Sessions will be held at Nagoya Campus which are located in the rolling hills overlooking metropolitan Nagoya city.

After short tour, the second part of conference will be held in Kyoto, which is an old capital of Japan established more than 1,000 years ago and is declared a World Heritage site. There are lots of historical temples, shrines and housings. The sessions will take place at the Hotel Granvia Kyoto, which is directly connected to Kyoto Station.

We hope to see all of you in Nagoya July 2012.

Atsuo Suzuki,
Conference Chairman on behalf of the Organizing Committee
