There are four main international airports in Japan: Centrair (NGO), Narita (NRT), Haneda (HND) and Kansai (KIX).

Central Japan International Airport – Centrair (NGO)
NGO was completed 6 years ago to meet EXPO2005 held in Greater Nagoya area. It is close to the center of Nagoya. It takes 28 minutes/850 yen by the fastest train to Nagoya Station. From there, it takes approximately 5 minutes/800 yen by taxi to Nagoya Kanko Hotel, where many of the participants will be staying during the conference in Nagoya. Currently, there are non-stop flights to/from Frankfurt, Helsinki and Detroit. You could come to NGO via NRT by code-sharing flights provided by Japan Airlines (JAL) or All Nippon Airways (ANA).
Narita International Airport (NRT)
NRT is the biggest airport in Japan and there are most frequently international flights. It is located about 70 km east of the center of Tokyo. There are two possible ways to get to Nagoya from NRT, which is by shinkansen (bullet train) and air.
Haneda/Tokyo International Airport (HND)
HND located near central Tokyo has opened a brand new international terminal in October 2010. Now there are international flights between HND and major cities in Europe and North America: London, Paris, New York, Detroit, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Vancouver. Taking the shinkansen (bullet train) from Shinagawa Station next to Tokyo is convenient to get to Nagoya/Kyoto. You may enjoy beautiful Mt. Fuji on your way to Nagoya/Kyoto. There is no flight between HND and NGO.
Kansai International Airport (KIX)
KIX located about 50 km south of the center of Osaka is convenient to get to Osaka/Kyoto. It takes approximately 50 minutes and 75 minutes from/to Osaka and Kyoto, respectively. By using shinkansen (bullet train), it takes 60 minutes from Shin-Osaka terminal to Nagoya. There is no flight between KIX and NGO.
